Organization Mission: Unity Care is a strengths-based, family-focused, and culturally proficient youth and family development agency. Since 1993, our mission is to “provide quality youth and family programs for the purpose of creating healthier communities through lifelong partnerships.” For over 20 years, Unity Care offers innovative community-based, mental health and housing programs.
Mental Health Services:
- Therapeutic Behavioral Services (TBS) are one-on-one mental health services for children (ages 3-21) with severe emotional and behavioral issues. They are designed to help children/youth and their parents/caregivers (when available) manage behaviors utilizing short-term, measurable goals based on the child’s and family’s needs. The goal is to successfully transition youth from a high level of care to a less restrictive setting and/or maintain youth in their current setting.
- The Nia Project (Differential Response) Helps and strengthens African American families in crisis by advocating for them, providing parent education, connecting them with African American and other community resources, and providing counseling.
- Odyssey (Wraparound Services) – The program serves youth up to 18 years of age and their families. The Wraparound process focuses on strength-based planning, which utilizes each family’s strengths to meet Identified needs in all aspects of daily life that impacts their stability. If the youth is unable to live with their parents, the plan is to develop permanent connections for the youth, allowing them to live with relatives or other adults who will serve as their life-long support.
- Outpatient Mental Health Clinic (OMHC) – Provides a wide range of mental health services for youth in the Child Welfare, Juvenile Justice and School Based systems who are currently receiving other Unity Care services. Services are also provided for the families and caregivers of the youth.
